Ok... today we answer the eternal question that has been plaguing humans since the beginning of time. “What would you get if you combined the voices of Louis Armstrong and Bob Dylan in a child that was raised by terrestrial angels (better known as Welsh throat singing dragons) who was then sent to Tibet to learn how to sing by the throat singing monks before ending up in the high plains desert of New Mexico?” Well the answer to that questions ladies and gentlemen is our podcaster tonight... EverNorm.
Originally from Wales, Norm learned how to sing from the throat singing dragons that inhabit his homeland. He then combines that unique style of singing with the jazz and folk influences of Louis Armstrong and Bob Dylan to create a musical style that his truly his own.
Tonight’s performance just might be my favorite podcast so far with Norm’s unique songwriting style and amazing storytelling ability he takes us on a ride of adventure and discovery as he shares with us his amazing life story and how he ended up in New Mexico.

This week’s artists, Tom Gutierrez and Beau Salas bring the podcast back into a style of music that is near and dear to most of our hearts... rock and roll.
Tom’s style of rock ranges from soul all the way to the anthemic arena rock of the 70’s and 80‘s while Beau’s style of rock is more firmly planted in the modern styles of rock that remind me of bands similar to Death Cab For Cutie.
But one nice thing about playing rock and roll in a pared down acoustic format is that you can’t hide the songs behind the stack of amplifiers, the drums, the bass and the effect pedals that can sometimes make a mediocre song sound really cool. No, when you play acoustically the song has to be well written in order to stand up with just one guitar and one voice and with these two songwriters you’ll see that they are both achieved this beautifully with their music. I’m sure they’re music sounds great with a full band that would make you want to get up and dance but we got the pleasure of enjoying their music in the raw form of how it was inspired.
I really enjoyed this show and I hope you do too!

This weeks podcast features the incredible creative talents of Rachel Langer and Austin Morrell.

Rachel Langer is fairly new to songwriting and even newer to the performance side of music but you’d never know it listening to her. Her beautiful songbird melodies with clever lyrics and characters take you on a fun and quirky ride through songs of love, loss and the apocalypse.

Austin Morrell is a young singer/songwriter and member of the local Albuquerque band called Brothers. It only too one time through their CD called Mountain Top before it become one of my favorite CD’s to listen to. Though the CD has a strong, anthemic, 70’s retro, reverb sound the songs still hold all their power when paired down to one voice and one guitar which is testament to the strong songwriting that underlies the music.

Keep an eye out for these two songwriters... I think they are a sign of the new scene that is developing here. Enjoy!

Contact Information:

Rachel Langer
www.myspace.com/rachellanger

Austin Morrell
www.myspace.com/brothersnewmexico
Have you ever wondered what would happen if you took a someone born in Romania, who has lived in Hungary and Canada, gave them a guitar attached with a Ukulele, a bike horn and a cymbal, put them in the New Mexican high desert and introduced them to a lovely young lady with a beautiful voice? Well you’re about to find out!

This weeks podcast features Zoltan and Glynda, otherwise known as Milkman and Juggs, and this is actually their story. Zoltan was born in Romania and through a series of events has now found himself living here in New Mexico and married to the lovely Glynda. Zoltan’s masterful guitar work and Glynda’s beautiful voice combined with eccentric lyrics about Rodeo/Circus clowns, inappropriate peeping janitors and an old man who lives in a hotel room eating nothing but Snickers and Whiskey has helped Glynda and Zoltan create a music so wonderfully unique and interesting that I’m predicting you won’t be able to pull yourself away from your computer screen once this podcast starts (except maybe to dance).

We had a great time this evening listening to the music and stories of these two fantastic musicians. I hope you enjoy it out there in podcast land as much as we did watching it live!

Contact information:

Zoltan and Glynda
a.k.a.
Milkman and Juggs
www.myspace.com/zoltantrio

They also perform with their 5 piece band known as
Zoltan Orkestar
